under 3's : Parent and Child
Group
The Parent and Child Group runs for four half days per week, currently
0930 to 1230, Monday to Thursday.
The children in this group
are between 2 and 3 years of age and work with their parent or carer
throughout
the session.
One of the most important aspects of this group is the parental involvement
and great emphasis is place upon their role in their child's development.
The group aims to:
- Creat a happy and secure environment for the child and
parent, in order that they will enjoy learning together.
- Give both the
child and parent positive attitudes.
- Establish good looking, listening
and communication skills.
- Establish good patterns of movement.
- Develop an upright posture with
midline orientation and to promote hand function.
- Establish feeding,
toileting and dressing routines.
- Introduce the child to an appropriate
pre-nursery curriculum.
All aspects of the child's development are
addressed and planning and recording are guided by the Scottish Executive
documents
such as, Education
of Children
Under 5 in Scotland and Curriculum Framework for Children
in their Pre-school Year.
